ISO Electric Guitar & Amplifier for YAN space

Hello good people of Rossland.

We are looking for an electric guitar and amp for the YAN space to be used for open mics, jams, informal lessons and signed out for individual practices. YAN already has a drum and bass setup and is looking for a guitar and amp complete the set.

Rossland band 'Brad Lee Whiplash & The Werewolves of Thunder', recently played a fundraising show and with the help of YAN came up with a $500 budget.

Ideally, we are looking for a good quality guitar (Fender Strat, Tele or something comparable) with a small tube amp (15-30watts). Any extras such as cables,  pedals and a case would be great as well.

If you have a set up like this please contact Pete at pgjreedy@gmail.com

Thanks

Still looking

Given that a second hand Fender strat is currently going to set you back north of 600 to 700 bucks, I don't think that's realistic for someone to give their guitar to you. The cheapest new Fender Strat is about $900.

However if you look on Facebook marketplace for guitars / amps there are lots to choose from in the area. You could pick up a clean Squier or Yamaha for less than a few hundred. Plus lots of cheap amps. You'll also get more bang for your buck with a modelling / solid state amp than a tube amp; plus unless you know what you're doing, then go with a solid state amp. Good luck.

Thanks for your feedback BOB. Yes you are right, a USA Fender Strat would go for that price, but there are Fenders made in Mexico and Japan (I have one of each) which go for less. To be clear, we are looking for an instrument and amp that people may want to sell for a little less than market value because it is a donation to a worthy cause. Thats who I am targetting as to maximise the value for YAN.

Rock on!

Ya this is all super straight-forward Bob. Put your head down and keep breaking your back at work. That way you can pay taxes so that places like the YAN can exist! Seriously ask yourself, where would we be as a community without rainbow crosswalks?

And once you've really taken a moment to think of your actions, ask yourself: how do you expect them to achieve all these results without rock and roll?

I know of a perfect Youth Centre, and it pays for itself. It's called the Farm.

Bootman, thanks for everything you guys do for our kids. The YAN is such a great space for the teenagers in town. If I had a guitar I would give it to you! Also, in my opinion, a town without a rainbow crosswalk would be a pretty dull place.....
