Cancelled due to weather tonight: Kootenay Savings Music in the Park: Diamond Willow

June 27 7:00 to 8:00 pm The Slocan Valley’s Diamond Willow is a classic country and western band that plays old country and various old rock favourites from artists such as Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell, Merle Haggard, Blue Rodeo, Neil Young, CCR, The Eagles and many more. Delaine Hird on lead vocals has a beautiful singing voice reminiscent of Loretta Lynn or Patsy Cline, and has sung old country from childhood. She has continued to play and sing around the Bluegrass circuit with her husband, Gene Hird, for several years. Gene performs on acoustic guitar, playing the signature and recognizable licks with great precision and tone.The band is rounded off by Joe Jmaeff, a very gifted and experienced bassist and back up vocalist with over fifty years experience. With entrance by donation ($2 minimum suggested), it’s the perfect opportunity to bring a lawn chair or a blanket, get outside and listen to some live music in the beautiful setting of Gyro Park every Thursday starting at 7 pm. Opening act Brad Lee Whiplash & The Werewolves of Thunder- Night Market event from 5-9 pm with food trucks, market and beer and wine garden, in association with Trail's IncrEDIBLE Farmer's Market. July 25: Devils You Don’t - jazz, soul, pop, and R&B Aug. 1: Holly Hyatt Band - blues and R&B Aug. 8: Locarno Band, featuring Tonye - a groove heavy mix of Mexican folk, Cuban son and latin soul - Night Market event from 5-8.30 pm with food trucks, market and beer and wine garden, in association with Trail's IncrEDIBLE Farmer's Market.
