Tonight - Award-winning Senegalese musician Élage Diouf and his Band bring their energetic world music show to The Bailey

The Performing Arts Trail Series presents Élage Diouf and his Band, charming us with their blend of pop, world, blues, folk and asiko on Tuesday, February 18 at 7:30 pm at The Bailey Theatre in Trail.

Élage’s music thrives at the artistic crossroad of artists like Carlinhos Brown, Peter Gabriel and Andres Cepeda. Singing mainly in his mother tongue, the wolof language, he is artistic, charismatic, authentic and easygoing, which makes his music unique. With the warmth and remarkable quality of his voice, his live performances encourage people to join in.

A master percussionist, Senegalese born singer-songwriter and performer Élage Diouf settled in Canada in 1996. Now based out of Montreal, Élage Diouf’s music is filled with irresistible rhythms, receiving several awards including CBC’s Artiste Révélation Radio-Canada, JUNO World Music Album of the Year, FÉLIX World Music Album of the Year, and SOCAN Hagood Hardy – World Music prize.

His numerous collaborations include Jonny Reid, Jenny Salgado from Muzion, Mike Sawatski from Les Colocs, Jean Leloup and Jordan Officer. Élage was also a featured performer in the world tour of Cirque du Soleil's “Delirium”, performing more than two hundred shows in the largest cities around the world.
