Friday Mar 14 and 15, 2008

Location: Rossland, BC
  Old Fire Hall
  2115 Queen Street

Two of Nelson's most important new voices are coming together for a weekend of song at the Firehall Mar. 14th and 15th. For two years, Nadine Florence has been the voice of What it is the first call dance band in the Kootenays for two decades. She is finishing up the final month of her program at Selkirk's Music school in Nelson, and just received 1st prize for her performance at the 2008 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in Moscow Idaho. Sarah McGlynn is a graduate of Humber College's revered music school, where she performed with countless greats, including legendary saxophonist Michael Brecker. She writes for and fronts Drive if You Must an electro/acoustic sensation, and sings Jazz every Sunday and Monday evening in Nelson at the Redfish, and the Hume Hotel. Together with a solid trio of Rob Johnson, Steve Parish, and Rich Rabnett, the sisters will mine the gems of Jazz's soul, paying homage to Ella, Sarah, and Bessie. At the same time, the sisters will unearth the soul in contemporary music by Norah Jones, Fleetwood Mac, and Bjork.
