Land being taken out of ALR

This incident may not directly involve our town because it is in Richmond, but it seems that province wide, land is being taken out of the Agriculture Land Reserve that was set up in the 70's for our food security. You can learn more about ALR at www.smartgrowth.bc.ca.

Below is an email from the Garden City Lands Coalition in Richmond and please sign the petition if you are concerned about this issue:

The next three weeks are a crucial time for those who want to save Richmond's Garden City Lands for green space, food security, ecology, etc. You're receiving this message because you have seemed supportive.

Your participation will show the Agricultural Land Commission where the community stands. Your support will also be a morale builder for the core group of Garden City Lands Coalition members who give so much time to serve the community in this way.

There are over 200 people receiving this message, and at this time there are 188 names on the online petition. If each of you acts, that number will soon double.
