Dear Citizens of Rossland and area,

Red Mountain Resort wants to strengthen the bridges between our company and the rest of the community. With all the changes and challenges facing our community, we feel it is critical to devote some energy and thinking into how we can better communicate and collaborate together.

We are asking you to take part in an innovative process called narrative capture which will help provide a deep understanding of how communication and collaboration works or doesn’t work - both between you and Red, as well as throughout our entire community.

You are invited to follow this link http://www.cognitive-edge.com/surveys/z2/redresort/ to learn more and to take park in this survey. It is important that you know that this process is anonymous and confidential. This narrative capture will close June 15th, so please act now so we can get a legitimate sample of all the different perspectives on communication and community collaboration that exist in our communities.

Then on June 20th, 6-10pm, at the Base Lodge, Red Mountain management & staff, along with a representative mix of community members, will work together to make sense of the patterns that emerge from your stories. From this data, we hope to then move towards better communication strategies that are respectful of all stakeholders.

If going on-line isn’t your style, you can meet with your friends and share your experiences face to face. Narrative capture sessions are scheduled for: Mondays, 7-8:30pm, Prestige Lounge, May 26th, June 2nd, & June 9th. Or, arrange a group of 4-8 people (we encourag you to invite people with diverse perspectives) and we'll bring the recording equipment and forms to you.

·
A group of ten community members representing a wide cross-section of differing perspectives have volunteered their time to guide this process to ensure that it is fair and unbiased. Terry Miller of TMG Consulting has been working closely with Hanne Smith, Keith Robine, Michelle Laurie, Dave Butler, Shelley Ackerman, Kim Deane, Andrew Zwicker & Egbert Plug. Together with Red, they invite you to help Red Mountain as well as our community have a more balanced, respectful and engaging dialogue.

If you believe there’s a better way for Red Mountain Resort & the rest of us to communicate and collaborate, then please join us in this conversation.

If you have any questions or concerns, or would like to arrange your own story capture session, please call Terry Miller @ 231-5690

On June 24th, from noon – 6pm, at the Prestige, Red Mountain will present information on its 4-Season Master Plan, including updates on the golf course development. This will be followed by a highly interactive workshop where people from the community can sit down face to face with Red’s owners, managers and consultants to identify issues and opportunities. City staff and Council have also been invited to attend. Mark your calendars.

Finally, please feel free to pass this information along to others who may want to help us all better understand our community’s diverse perspectives and how we can better work together.

Many thanks.
Howard Katkov, Red Mountain Resort
