Hello friends,
We have personally contacted each of you to request the attendance of you and your social network at our upcoming viewing of the film, “What a Way to Go – Life at the End of Empire” because, simply stated, we believe it is a film of critical importance. We live in a time of unparalleled global crises. We hear about the fragile state of the world daily, be it impending climate crisis, dwindling global oil supplies, escalating food and water shortages, overpopulation, and on and on. We know these problems are getting worse. We can no longer afford to ignore these big picture realities if we wish to preserve our own futures, never mind that of our children. We are truly at the most critical crossroad in human history, and each of us now must make a fundamental choice whether to stay on the road we’re on or choose an almost unimaginably different road. We say “almost unimaginably” because we are all aware of this road in that deepest part of ourselves. It’s that sense of belonging we get when we do a compassionate act for our neighbour; and that inner peace we feel when we sit beside a stream and close our eyes; and that sense of connectedness we experience when we grow and preserve our own food. These are the things that this fast-paced, exploitive world we’ve created hardly leaves room for us to know.
“What a Way to Go” accomplishes two objectives: It enables us to see just how critical things have become on the planet; and, it offers us reflections on how to begin the journey down that road that is our true nature.
As members of your community we ask you to make the time and join us to once again imagine what this road might be. Those who have begun this journey are discovering relief and joy beyond their dreams.
Please forward this to all those in your social circles and make a personal appeal for them to join you.
