State of the Snowpack is looking for a local coordinator![]() The Rossland chapter of State of the Snowpack is growing this winter and we are looking for a local coordinator to help organize events. SOTS is a grassroots non-profit building community, connection, and avalanche awareness through story-driven public events. Across Canada, our local chapters bring people together to share backcountry experiences and foster a culture of safety and learning. We’re growing—and looking for passionate mountain town leaders to join us. As a Local Chapter Coordinator, you’ll help bring the State of the Snowpack experience to your community. You’ll lead the planning and logistics for your chapter’s events, build a local volunteer team, and act as an ambassador for SOTS in your town. You don’t need to be an avalanche expert or a public speaker—you just need to care about community, storytelling, and the mountains. Strong admin and organizational skills will set you up for success in this role. The role is busiest at the start of the season while setting things up, then settles into a rhythm of one evening per event. While this is a volunteer leadership role, we offer a seasonal honorarium of $250–$500, depending on chapter size and number of events.
