Young bear at Centennial Trailhead

Young cinnamon colored bear (maybe year old) seen right at the trailhead at Centennial this am. Did not see this fella until I was about 10 - 12 ft away. He (or she) was totally unafraid of my presence or that there were several other people in the parking lot (maybe 20 - 30 ft away). One of the dogs with me spotted the bear and chased it (smart bear took off) and dog very quickly recalled.

Imagine my surprise when NONE of the people (including young child and dogs) in the parking lot were aware of a bear within a few feet of them (I was practically on top of it when it popped it's head up).

Then my dismay to discover WHY the bear was there - some ________ (feel free to insert own description here) had dumped 2 kitchen garbage bags at the side of the trail, directly opposite from the bear proof bin (Said garbage included toothpaste, lightbulbs, general food wrappers and other kitchen type stuff) so this young bear was helping himself to some-one's trash. The garbage bin was empty so there was absolutely no excuse.

S0..... I sincerely hope this young bear is not becoming too familiar with where silly humans dump their garbage and becomes a threat, thereby condeming it to a premature death

A Big Thankyou to the 2 other people who helped me clean up the trash

To the Jerk who dumped the trash - REALLY???? You're too damn lazy to lift the lid of the trash bin and properly dispose of the garbage. I picked it up, you're welcome, don't do it again cos I'll be really P.O'd if this beautiful young bear dies as a result of you dumping your trash. Oh, and BTW, you've now helped introduce a bad habit to a young bear.
