Be careful!
Be careful people! While walking downtown outside of Ferraros, a person walking (light jogging) collided into my arm. The force was such that I was momentarily dislodged from a stable balance point and almost fell. Had I been on uneven concrete I feel frightened to think what may have happened. I have had numerous issues with my ankle and knees in the past and this type of carelessness is exactly the type of thing that could send me straight to the hospital.
This is not the first time this has happened in Rossland. The pace people move at in public spaces is entirely unsafe, shows a lack of awareness and perhaps even distain for those around them. I think it is time council stepped up to the plate and better protected the citizens. I’m all for people jogging or moving quickly on running trials or side streets but I should be able to walk downtown without a fear of being knocked over. My mother has a cane and I could only imagine the damage that would result should that cane be struck by someone too busy to notice her or respect her unique balance concerns. I think laws should be in place downtown that enforces a safe speed of walking the same way we enforce driving speeds in order to promote safety for all.
