Sunday Cinema - The Miseducation of Cameron Post
Submitted by Trail Arts Council on Tue, 18/09/2018 - 2:48pm
November 18 4:45 to 6:35 pm In 1993 Montana, when a teenage girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) is caught in the backseat of a car with the prom queen on prom night, her conservative guardians force her to go to a religious boarding school to undergo gay conversion therapy. Run by the strict Dr. Lydia Marsh (Jennifer Ehle) and her brother, Reverend Rick (John Gallagher Jr.)—himself an example of how those in the program can be “cured”—the center is built upon repenting for “same sex attraction.” Cameron bonds with fellow residents, including the amputee stoner Jane (Sasha Lane), and her friend, the Lakota Two-Spirit, Adam (Forrest Goodluck), as they pretend to go along with the process while being subjected to outlandish disciplinary and "de-gaying" techniques. Based on the book by Emily M. Danforth, The Miseducation of Cameron Post won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance 2018. This is a film where there”…are miraculous, touching moments which will leave an indelible mark on LGBT cinema.” – Austin Dale, OUT.com “The Miseducation of Cameron Post is a lesson in acceptance and a call to arms with a beautiful beating heart.” - Ella Kemp, Culture Whisper 87% on Rotten Tomatoes Director: Desiree Akhavan / Cast: Chloë Grace Moretz, Steven Hauck, Quinn Shephard, Sasha Lane / Runtime: 90 minutes / Country: USA / Language: English / Rating: 14A Drama/Romance Tickets $10 on the door or get a 10 film Flex Pass (valid Sept.-May) for $90.
