Award-winning improviser, Travis Bernhardt, is back with a night of comedy and music in Unscriptured

Enjoy the Fringe Fest up-close and personal atmosphere of The Griff as Trail & District Arts Council presents Travis Bernhardt's irreverent improv comedy Unscriptured as part of the E2: Experiments in Entertainment series on Friday, January 17 at 7:30 pm.

A big hit at Spooktacular 2018, Travis Bernhardt never ceases to amaze. Whether he’s dropping your jaw with impossible-seeming magic or transcending you to new planes of consciousness with his delicate mentalism, Bernhardt is an intuitive and wildly talented performer.

With Unscriptured, winner of Pick of the Fringe at the 2018 Vancouver Fringe Festival, Travis and James Jordan explore collective spirituality with a spontaneously created church service improvised on the spot. With prompts from the audience, Bernhardt skillfully creates hilarious hymns, prayers and scripture, full of congeniality and hopefulness, that offer insights into the human condition. An incredibly clever twist on the improv tradition.

The day before the show, on January 16 from 6-9 pm, Travis will be running Improvisation and the Clown, a workshop to teach aspiring performers to pump up their stage presence and expand their imagination and physical range. Using techniques from the world of clown and bouffon, Travis will help attendees instantly connect the audience and their scene partners without even saying a word.

Travis Bernhardt is an award-winning improviser from Vancouver, BC, who has been selected for the International Ensembles at the Vancouver Improv Festival (winning Favourite Male Performer) and Improvaganza in Edmonton. He has trained with Alistair Cook in improv, and David MacMurray Smith, Nathaniel Justiniano, Giovanni Fusetti, and Deanna Fleysher in clown and bouffon.

Both show and workshop are in The Griff at The Bailey. Tickets for the show are $22 in advance or $24 at the door. The Improv workshop is $20 and is suitable for adults and youth ages 15+. Tickets for both are available at the Box Office at 1501 Cedar Avenue in Trail, by phone at 250-368-9669, or online at thebailey.ca.
