Carvings knocked over on Centennial

Both of the remaining indigenous wood carvings on Centennial were toppled over by yesterday (Monday) morning (the third was toppled some while ago, taken away and never put back), and the remains of a fire left smouldering on the other side of the tunnel. Along with the graffiti appearing in various places in the town, it makes you wonder what's happening here.

all crickets, no comments on this....perhaps a sign of the times that people don't care about this type of thing happening in their community these days.....not even a word from the city? Sad and disturbing to say the least.

I saw this on Monday, it is obviously the kids from the Tunnel party that feel they are entitled to destroy Indiginous art.

Can't wait for then to attac the new bathrooms outside Ferraro's

It's kids making bad decisions. It's been happening forever. I doubt they considered the type of art they were vandalizing. It's too bad it happened.

How I learned I'd made a bad decision was that there were consequences....which in this case, if the prevailing view is "it's just kids being kids"....(not sayng that's what I hear, but I wouldn't doubt that's one of the sounds of silence).... lthere won't be any consequences so not sure those involved will  learn any lesson. And as they say, silence tends to be agreement / lack of concern so if people don't at least speak up / speak out on vandalism the kids will see it as "no big deal".

This makes me sad, mad and dissapointed. If you knnow your kid was at the tunnel party your kid is just a guilty of this vandalism as the ones who are guilty of this action for not stopping it or reporting it. Time for a conversation with these kids about accountability and to make it right. Have your bonfires but distructive behaviour is uncalled for.
