Does Anyone With a Rossland Address Use Simplii Financial?

Howdy Rossland friends,

Last week, lured by the promise of a shiny new customer bonus, I opened what I believed to be a fairly routine chequing account with Simplii Financial.

However, this week I tried to actually use my new account (I know, very bold of me), and it seems that Simplii is having an absolute meltdown over my address only showing up as a PO Box in their highly sophisticated Canada Post-linked computer system.

Since Canada Post only delivers to PO boxes here, they do not list my physical address (which Simplii demands to have on file), and apparently my suggestion to enter it manually is out of the question, because Canada Post is the preeminent, infallible authority on all things addresses.

Has anyone else in our town experienced the joy of fighting through this Kafka-esque display of IT incompetence with our country's banking monopoly highly sophisticated banking sector? Did you make it out alive? If so, I'd love to hear how you managed to convince the lovely folks at CIBC/Simplii that you do not, in fact, reside within the confines of your post office box and that you are an actual human being with a real house/townhome/apartment.

Or should I just receive my paycheques in Bitcoin and keep my savings hidden under my mattress?

Thank you muchly.

What I can suggest is what the post office told me, and what I use as my address in situations like this.

xxxx  street address,  where xxxx is my box number.

Not P.O. box xxxx,    just xxxx.  The post office knows how to interpret this.

I get my mail

Oh @#$%. I re-read your post. This is not your problem...  ignore what I said.

I put street address and box number both on my online orders and anywhere else that will have something shipped /mailed to me....most businesses / institutions have a line for "secondary address" , "suite/apt  number", etc and I put in the box number....I haven't had issues so far (6 years)

I opened an account with Simplii this year for the same reason and encountered the same issue. For my case, the resolution was to call on the phone and ask a representative to enter the address manually. I was fortunate to reach a human who could think for themselves and considered my request reasonable. They were able to override the Canada Post address "validation" and entered my address as the street address and the PO Box on a single line.

Good luck!

I just use my PO BOX and have had no issues with the system so far.

PO BOX XXXX in the address line. Havent had any compaints from them so far. But Ive been a customer for years. not sure if this just affecting new customers. I only receive email statements though so not sure as i havent got real mail from them in a while now.

I experienced a similar problem with several online retailers. Some systems will not tolerate a PO Box even when preceded by the street address. While it seems Simplii should be large and sophisticated enough not challenge customers with this problem, I experienced it with Adidas. At least it sounds like someone answers the phone at Simplii, Adidas not so much.

I've had issues with other businesses, so I put my physical address with POB ### right after it, which has worked in most cases...
